Coupling electrochemical carbon dioxide conversion with value-added anode processes: An emerging paradigm
نویسندگان
چکیده
Water oxidation (i.e., oxygen evolution) reaction is the most often used, green anodic pair of carbon dioxide (CO2) electroreduction, mimicking natural photosynthetic process. At same time, it requires high energy input and generates a product little commercial value oxygen). Finding appropriate alternative anode processes to be coupled with CO2 reduction major undertaking. Several factors need considered, such as (i) product, (ii) abundance cost substrate, (iii) necessary cell voltage (energy input), (iv) needed catalysts, (v) structure components, (vi) ease/complexity analysis separation. This opinion discusses all these aspects outlines main questions answered through future research activity.

Conversion of Carbon Dioxide to Metabolites by Clostridium acetobutylicum KCTC1037 Cultivated with Electrochemical Reducing Power
In this research, metabolic fixation of CO2 by growing cells of C. acetobutylicum cultivated with electrochemical reducing power was tested on the basis of the metabolites production and genes expression. In cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical oxidation and reduction reaction of neutral red (NR) immobilized in intact cells of C. acetobutylicum was stationarily repeated like the soluble one in t...
